COVID-19 Vaccine Information

COVID-19 Vaccine Information

Bon Secours is committed to the safety and health of our patients. The first public offerings of the Covid-19 vaccine will be made available this week. Bon Secours is actively preparing for the release and will share additional details as they become available. Key talking points about vaccine availability and preparation are included for your information and planning.

  • Bon Secours continues to work with State and local authorities on availability and distribution of Covid-19 vaccines.
  • Bon Secours Mercy Health administration does not control the timeframe for vaccination of our patients.
  • Covid-19 vaccine distribution is controlled by the individual States, and the supply of vaccine currently varies between the States.
  • South Carolina vaccination efforts began with DHEC's guidance which included mission critical phase 1 A populations and will expand first to patients considered high risk.
  • Vaccination eligibility is defined by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC).
  • The first public phase of vaccinations will be offered to citizens ages 70 and older.
  • Additional vaccination offerings will be released based on a schedule devised by SC DHEC; however, the CDC estimates that all persons wishing to receive the vaccine will be able to do so by the end of 2021.
  • Bon Secours is actively planning for administration and will begin vaccination for eligible patient populations on 01.13.2021.
  • Vaccines will be administered by appointment only at designated locations. Walk in vaccinations will not be available.
  • Beginning 01.13.2021, SC residents aged 70 and older may schedule an appointment for vaccination through DHEC's website www.dhec.sc.gov or by calling 1-855-472-3432. Your physician offices cannot schedule vaccinations.
  • Bon Secours will communicate how to receive the vaccine once all logistics are finalized.
  • We encourage our patients to sign up for a MyChart account if they don't already have one. MyChart will be the primary way we communicate with patients about getting a vaccine when available.
  • The population is advised to continue to follow safety guidelines: wear a mask, wash your hands and physical distance, before and after vaccine receipt.
