Get to Know Us

Welcome to the Mt. Zion Baptist Church website. I happy you have chosen to spend a few moments looking around, discovering our church family.

We are a group of people committed to following Jesus. That means we worship Him with vigor and joy. That means we encourage prayer in church and throughout life. That means we love people outside the church through generosity, invitation, and compassion.

Our hope is that all people will feel loved and welcomed at Mt. Zion. And once here, we pray that people will meet God and as a result of meeting God, give their lives to Jesus Christ. We want that for you. Come as you are. Check us out, but more importantly, seek the truth of God that can only be known when one knows Jesus.

While you are browsing our website, you will learn about our programs and get a glimpse of who we are, but only a glimpse. To fully understand us, come to a worship service and feel the up-close, in-person fellowship that comes when people share time together with the Holy Spirit present. We’d love to meet you and know you.

Rev. and First Lady Flint

MEET OUR PASTOR

Rev. Samuel Flint was born in Ridgeland, South Carolina, however at a young age, moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania which he considers his home. After graduating from John Bartram High School, he joined the United States Air Force at the age of 17 and retired after 23 years of service as a Sr. Master Sargent. After retirement from the United States Air Force, he relocated to Alamogordo, New Mexico and started his career as an Aircraft Maintenance Manager at DynCorp International.

Rev. Flint had a spiritual foundation at a very young age, but it was not until 1980, when he joined New Hope Baptist Church in Alamogordo, that he committed his life to serving the Lord.

Remarks on COVID-19

Ever since mid-March, we have been inundated with issues, data and statistics - all related to COVID-19. Even though most of the news is depressing and saddening, we still have faith that someday - things will return to some semblance of normal.

In anticipation of that day, we, at Mt. Zion, are making plans to reopen for live church services. A reopening planning committee (the "Committee"), led by Deacon William Dial, has been formed. The Committee is not only working on how to safely reopen, but how to remain safe after the reopen. There are very important steps that need to be considered and implemented - and we greatly appreciate the Committee's continued commitment in making this happen.

We will keep you updated as progress is being made, and we ask that you continue to keep yourself knowledgeable regarding COVID-19 so that we can help stop the spread of this deadly virus. Please find more information by clicking on the links below.

Keep praying, Mt. Zion. The Lord will work this out.
